Organizational Background
LANA was established to serve as a voice for marginalized women and a platform for advancing gender equality and social justice. The organization focuses on:

LANA operates through a network of legal practitioners, social workers, and community volunteers committed to protecting and empowering women.
Problem Statement
Across Nigeria, many women and girls face systemic challenges, including:
* High prevalence of gender-based violence (domestic violence, sexual abuse, harmful practices)
* Limited access to legal representation and justice
* Economic dependency and unemployment
* Cultural and societal barriers that silence victims
Despite existing legal frameworks, enforcement gaps and lack of
awareness continue to prevent women from seeking redress. Without targeted
intervention, these challenges will persist and deepen inequality.
Project
Goal and Objectives
Goal:
To empower women and girls through advocacy, legal support, and sustainable livelihood initiatives.
Objectives:
* Provide free or subsidized legal aid to at least 200 women annually
* Conduct community sensitization programs on women’s rights and gender-based violence
* Train at least 150 women in vocational and entrepreneurial skills
* Strengthen referral systems for survivors of abuse
* Advocate for improved enforcement of laws protecting women ⸻

* Legal Aid Services:
Provision of legal counseling, representation, and mediation services for survivors of abuse and rights violations
* Advocacy and Awareness Campaigns:
Community outreach, workshops, and media campaigns to educate the public on women’s rights
* Skills Acquisition and Economic Empowerment:
Training in vocational skills (e.g., tailoring, catering, digital skills) and small business support
* Psychosocial Support:
Counseling services for survivors of violence
